From early September to mid-October, two Duininck crews worked together to prep and pave 16 miles of 1804 State Highway near Pierre, SD. Mary Siegle, Crew Lead, and her team based out of Watertown, SD, kicked the project off with the milling and prep work. Once completed, Ted Meyer, Crew Lead, and his paving crew came in to pave the road and place gravel to finalize the project.
The mill and overlay project used around 49,000 tons of asphalt mix from Duininck’s Plant 7. A portion of the 16 mile stretch of road goes right over the Oahe Dam, which required additional coordination with the State.
“The cooperation between Duininck and the state helped the project move along smoothly,” shared Mike Ruether, Duininck Superintendent. “That partnership, along with the effort and attention to detail from the two crews involved, enabled us to complete a high-quality project in a timely manner.”
